Medieval

January 29, 2014
Sweater: vintage || Collared top: Old Navy || Cardigan: thrifted || Scarf: gift || Gray jeans: Kohl's
Just another day at school. I think these curls were from a day-old bun. Or just naturally tousled by the wind. Yes, au naturel.

Take a Breather

Catch up session with this beautiful friend. Taking time out for social interaction is always important and definitely one of my favorite de-stressors to take a breather during the chaotic school week.

Listen to the Silence: Art and Activism

January 18, 2014
Listen to the Silence: Art and Activism
Stanford University
This day was long-awaited. I love going to retreats or conferences because they are filled with workshops, speakers, and activities in which I will walk away with immense amount of knowledge and inspiration. And wow was I right. I knew, when I heard about this event months prior, I would benefit and enjoy because it combined two things I am currently passionate about: Asian American identity/activism and Art. I was able to attend three incredibly valuable workshops, listen to three outrageously inspirational keynote speakers, and have the experience of a lifetime to be among other intelligent peers who felt as passionately as I did about art and activism.
Lunch time.
More sneak peaks of the beautiful Stanford campus.
Dinner time before the concert.
Art by Artist Nidhi Chanani of everydayloveart.com (who was also our last keynote speaker).
What was in the back of all our minds: the concert! Of course the whole day was absolutely amazing, but to relax and have fun from the heavy information we learned that day, was the concert with talented Asian American artists (from cultural dances, to choir groups, to celebrities)!

Singer Kylee of http://www.youtube.com/user/KyleeSMEJ who is also a second year Stanford student!
Youtube artist J.R. Aquino. Front row and center (ok third row and center, but I'd argue best seats in the house). *swoon*
The end results of the beautiful collaborative artwork.
A long awaited and hyped up drink. I recommend this flavor (Almond Honey), but I don't know if I would drive all the way back here and wait in line for it again. But no doubt, it was a delicious bona experience.
One of the workshops allowed us to reclaim misrepresented and oppressed identities through blackout poetry. Here is my own blackout poetry:

I'm looking for me tonight.
I'm an asian princess
They call me jasmine gunpowder
I'm looking for me tonight.
She a celebration to the nation
I got my faith
I ain't asian sensation
I'll show you
I'm looking for me tonight.

The whole day was activity-filled and full of inspiration and knowledge that I am blessed and fortunate to have experienced for myself. There were so many strong keynote speakers as well as students who inspired me and motivated me to want to be my own best leader and best person I can become. All I need is passion, belief in myself, and remembrance to fight for what I believe in.

Familiar Faces Familiar Places

January 24, 2014
A super great start to this Friday. Kept bumping into friends, one after another, literally a few steps and I see someone else. Always great to see familiar faces.
Fridays this quarter are great. Only one class at 9am, and I'm free. So before my internship at 1:00 pm, I had some "me" time. Finally got a chance to see "My Week with Marilyn".

The rest of the night was dedicated to spending time with my lovely sibs. Scavenger hunt all over, fisheye lens, frozen jelly snacks, carne asada fries, belated surprise birthday, sushi candy, love.
Mmm. More nachos.
And of course everyone but one was indecisive, so we followed his cravings for carne asada fries.

Easy Does It

January 19, 2014
Sweater: thrifted || Vest: thrifted || Jeans: Urban Outfitters
Colder weather, lazier wear.

Ali Baba

January 17, 2014
Spent brunch time with my lil sib before heading off to intern.
Chicken gyros. Yum.

White Walls

January 16, 2014
Top: H&M || Sweater: thrifted || Jacket: Forever 21 || Velvet leggings: H&M || Shoes: Dr. Martens
Attended my organization's club meeting where a guest speaker came by to present. Nick Mahar, a cinematographer who has worked with Macklemore, among others, came by to share his experiences in the cinematography world. It was immensely inspiring to hear someone so young, who pursued his dreams and passions, and ended up becoming so successful so soon. People like him keep me going and keep me striving for better things for myself. I just wonder when my success story will come.

Two Way Pair

January 14, 2014
Top: Forever 21 || Jacket: Forever 21 || Beanie: Wet Seal || Scarf: gift || Jeans: Kohl's
Unintentional two-way matching. Maroon- jacket & cherry red Doc Martens, Mint green- beanie & scarf. Felt spunky ad quirky with my unconventional cat ear beanie and two braid pigtails. I'd like to think they gave my look more character than if I went without those two features. Whether I looked ridiculous or stylish (hopefully a combination of the two- ridiculously stylish?), I just liked dressing up. I've been held down with this fear of what others might think of me if I dressed a certain way, but I'm starting to realize I feel better if I forget all that. That nagging fear hasn't completely left me yet, but I'm getting close to kicking it to the curb.

Jam Session

January 13, 2014
Top: Old Navy || Sweater: Cotton On || Jacket: Forever 21
Missed choir so much, I finally dropped by to see how they were doing by joining in on their jam session. It was amazing to see so many fresh new faces. It was definitely fun to take part in this group that just allows you to de-stress through music.
Oh yes, and I finally received my letter from Pamela of http://bundleofstring.tumblr.com
Definitely check her blog it, she has quite the amazing insight on a variety of topics, great movie taste,  as well as lovely fashion sense. And shoutout to her card - it's a regal cat for goodness sake.
